April 6th ~ 6 months!

Well today has been eventful! Nate was able to stay a bit longer & left this morning when the girls left for school (6:30am ~ yep, the girls get on the bus THAT early).

Last Thursday I got a call from school that Sloan was sick & ended up having to bring her home with a stomach bug. Sloan was sick through the weekend & ended up missing the test for her Senior Red Belt that was Saturday. We figured she could take the make-up test on Thursday of this week.

We got to spend extra time with Nate this weekend though, he got here VERY late on Friday but got to stay all day on Saturday & Sunday. That's more time than we are used to, it was great, but his leaving today was still very hard.

So today I get another call from school about Sloan. This time she was in a little accident at recess. She walked in front of a loaded & rapidly moving swing! The nurse was concerned that she would need stitches. I came to pick her up & she was really being a trooper, but it didn't look good. I called the pediatrician ~ they wouldn't even check on her lip! I can understand if they don't want to do stitches on the face & need to refer us to a specialist, but HOW am I supposed to know where to go without their advice? So, I turn around & head back towards my doctor (2 counties over). My doctor sees her almost immediately, he confirms that she does need a stitch or two & has the nurse call in an immediate referral to a specialist (located off the SAME street as the pediatrician)! By this time I know I won't be back in Madison County in time to be home when Evie gets off the bus, so I call the school & arrange to pick her up. Now we are all at the Maxiofacial specialist's office, Sloan gets some drugs to make her relax (REALLY relax, she couldn't even walk out on her own), she gets a stitch to force the gap where her teeth went into her lip to close & then we all go to the gym where I work. I still need to coach tonight!

We are all home, the kids are in bed. Sloan ate a pretty good dinner, but she's quite nauseated from all the stress & the medications. She definately won't be able to test for her Senior Red Belt this week ~ no sparring for a girl with a sewn up lip!

I am tired. I am stressed. I am still happy though. Admitedly today would have been MUCH easier with Nate around, but I am so blessed to have him in my life. Things will settle down, we will eventually live in the same house. To answer the question that everyone is thinking ~ no, there's been no movement on our home. At this point we have no firm plans to move over the summer either as we cannot afford to pay for 2 homes this time around (and really, last time we only paid for 2 homes for 3 months, I don't think we'd have made it for 6+). Regardless these changes will be hard, we love College Station, we love it here, not being in either place or with either group of friends will make us sad. Thanks you guys for all your prayers!

Sloan before having her lip sewn up. She actually looked worse after, I didn't have the heart to take pictures of her, she was just so sad & crying most of the time.
