Merry Christmas from The Peacocks!

Hello everyone! It seems to have become a habit for me to not get Christmas cards out! This year my WONDERFUL friend Amy came to take some pictures of the family for us so I thought I would take this opportunity to share some pictures with you all & give you a short version of our year.

This year Nate & I celebrated our 10th anniversary with a trip to Heavenly at Lake Tahoe. We stayed in the same place we did on our honeymoon. It was a wonderful trip. We seem to meet the greatest people when we are in Tahoe. We met the Fetters on our honeymoon & this year we met Corey & have stayed friends even though we all live very far apart.

We had a summer of skiing & wakeboarding until some problems with our boat had to be addressed. Our boat was in the shop from July 4th until it was too cold to use anymore. It is now in working order, but it will be a while before we can use it again.

Sloan is in 2nd grade this year & is still very smart. She want constant activity & constant challenges & can be quite distructive if she becomes bored & is left to her own devices. She's lost 8 teeth, weighed 49lbs at her last check up & is 46 inches tall. She's a bit smaller than her peers, but she makes up for it in spirit. She's made it to Red Belt in TaeKwon Do & we are very proud of her.

Evie is in Kindergarten this year & has loved being in school. You notice that Evie made it to the holidays without her 2 front teeth. She loves to sing the song too. Evie has lost 6 teeth, weighed 50lbs at her last check-up & is about 46 inches tall ~ making her about the same size as Sloan. Evie loves to sing & dance. We would love to have her in some classes, but time has not allowed it this year.

Will is quite the little man! He's a big boy & has had a very healthy year. Will stays at home with me still & is only in a drop-in mother's morning out program. In the next picture you can see that his hair is currently cut in a mohawk & it suits his personality very well. He's an "all-out" kid & doesn't hold anything back. It's great when he's feeling lovey, not so fun when he's mad though.

Nate celebrated his birthday this year with a trip to the emergency vet for one dog and a trip to the animal shelter for the other. Our "yellow lab" Sunny attacked our black lab Shadow & nearly killed her. Shadow has spent months recovering from her shattered leg, multiple infections & other wounds. When Nate took Sunny in to put her down the technician on staff suspected that she actually was a pit bull mixed with lab. Glad she didn't get after one of our kids.

At the end of the summer Nate found out that the company he was working for would be selling their radio stations in Jackson ~ to different radio groups who would not need any new managers. This company also did not offer to relocate us; so Nate was left searcing for a new job right before our children were supposed to go back to school. Nate did manage to find a good job, but it is in Texas. The housing market has been quite slow lately so I am anticipating being in this house until the summer (at least). It is very hard to live apart, but I know that we are thankful that Nate was able to find something appropriate with the economy slowing down so drastically.

I am still coaching swim team and have been able to keep up with my project in the Junior League. With Nate being gone so much all of this keeps me very busy. I am ready for my whole family to be settled in one place ~ wherever that may end up being.
We wish you all the Merriest Christmas & a wonderful 2009!

Some December 2008 pics

We have the house decorated, but it's messy most of the time right now. I am otherwise very far behind at getting things done for Christmas this year.

Shadow is very patient with the kids. She wore these antlers & actually posed for a picture with some of our Christmas trees.

We have had some very cold days lately (of course the past few days have been in the mid 70's). Will has been wearing some of his sweaters & I just thought he looked so cute. He looks happy here, but he was not happy with me when I put this sweater on him.
The 12 days of Christmas have also started in our house. Here the kids are opening their first presents of the season. Of the 3 presents, Sloan's is the only one that survived the day. Will threw his on the ground in a fit less than 30 minutes after he opened it. Evie took her's to Church & dropped it.

December 5th, 2008 - Sloan finally gets her Red Belt

Sloan tested before we left for Thanksgiving so she missed her belt ceremony and a few classes. We are very proud of her achieving her Red Belt. And she looks pretty cool as well. Next up is Senior Red & then Black. Wow!

November 30th, 2008 - Evie loses her tooth!

We had been watching Evie's tooth all week while we were on vacation. We get home & it promptly comes out while she's in the tub. That is Evie's 6th visit from the Tooth Fairy.

November 29th, 2008 - Texas Renaissance Festival

We took a day to go to the "Ren Fest". Something else I haven't done in YEARS. We were all very underdressed as the day ended up being very cold, but it was still fun!

My little man snuggling with daddy. Who knows what he's done to his head here...

Dead Bob.

The blue dragon.

The blue dragon lifted his costume & stepped on Kristan. Kinda freaked her out ~ I am not gonna lie...
We all visited the executioner...

Sloan was first.

Then Evie...

My niece Kristan...

And of course me...
I was really amazed at how well he did with the signs even though he really didn't know any of us!

We sent the kids through a maze & were just sure that Evie would never make it out.

Weren't we surprised when Evie was the first one through...

And we had to send Kristan in after Sloan.

November 28th, 2008 - Time at Mimi & Gragra's house

We spent Thanksgiving day & the rest of the vacation at my mom & Lynn's (Mimi & Gragra) home in Willis, TX.

Evie went & sat in front of a tree at the neighbor's house while we were looking at all the vultures on their roof. We went to check on them when we saw no less than 15 vultures perched on their roof. Turns out they get a kick out of feeding them & the birds were hungry.

Each of the kids took turns on my mom's horse Gus. Will obviously loved it. Sloan had a good time with it too.

Nate led Gus around while the kids rode.

Evie posing.

Gus is obviously quite patient with the kids.

Deuce was very interested in the horses. We had to work very hard to keep her back.

Shadow looks so good. You can see the bump from the area of her leg that took the worst of the attack. She's getting around really well now though. When she goes slow she almost always uses the leg now.

This is my mom's new Chocolate Lab. He's quite the exhibitionist...

I know they say dogs aren't supposed to be affected by catnip, but Deuce REALLY loved this cat toy. She chased that ball around for the longest time & then acted really goofy after.

November 26th, 2008 - Family time

We stayed in Bellville at Nate's parents' home for the first part of our trip to Texas for Thanksgiving so Nate could commute to work easily & we would get to spend plenty of time together. Nate has been working in Texas for 2 months now & we miss him a lot when we are back home in Mississippi.

Nate cut Will's hair in a mohawk. Will does not like having his hair cut. The mohawk does suit his personality very well though.

Will is relaxing after his hair cut & a bath.

Shadow may never be the same but she's a great dog & well loved in our family.

We tried to play a game of Chinese Checkers, but the kids lost interest pretty quickly. I am not sure what Will is trying to tell me with this look...

Evie was trying to give Sloan a kiss & Sloan was just not feeling it.

My sweet Evie.

My silly Sloan.

November 25th - Thanksgiving dinner with Jen, Dave & the kids.

We had Thanksgiving dinner with Nate's brother David, Jennifer, Maddie Claire, Sam & Gus on the 25th. We ate at Nate's Parents' home. I am disappointed that I didn't get more pics of the kids though.

Here is the sunset from Grandma & Grandpa's front porch that evening.

Deuce was barking at me & I managed to get a picture of her with one ear flipped forward. She's silly.

We stacked up the dog beds & Shadow managed to get on top of all of them. It was like the dog version of the Princess & the pea.

Evie hanging out with Nate.

Our kids playing upstairs.

I did manage to get a few pictures of my newest nephew Gus. This was the first time I had gotten to see him & he's PRECIOUS!

He really loved to jump around.
