Our home

Our house has been on the market for almost 4 weeks now. We have moved so many times & I wish I had pictures of our old homes; to show the kids where they lived, to remind me of things I really liked about each house; like the paint color on the walls of the entry to our home in New Mexico, the finished house in Bryan when we completely rehabed the interior, or our first home in College Station.

I decided to take pictures of this house to show friends & family who haven't gotten to see it & to remind us about it after we have moved on.

This is the front of the house. Nate recently painted the shutters & front door, they were light blue, we chose Cottage Black as the new color.

This is the living room, Nate made the fireplace screen & I LOVE it ~ it's a Peacock.

Another shot of the living room, the armoire houses the computer where I am typing right now. Notice Shadow in her kennel with her cone & splint.

This is the guest bedroom.

And the guest bath / Will's bathroom here.

Will's bedroom. He really likes his room now that he's old enough to play on his own some.

This is our bedroom.

And our bathroom.

This is our kitchen & breakfast area; which we use most often as our dining area.

This is the official dining room. We use it as more of a game room.

This is the girls' bedroom. It's so huge that they share. They also have 2 walk-in closets; one for clothes & one for toys.

The girls' bathroom. I can see this becoming a problem as they get a little older; it's way too small for 2 girls to share. ;)

And the back yard. Nate built this deck.

Here's what Will is usually doing in the mornings while I am trying to get our house as clean as possible just in case people want to come & see it. He loves to get ALL of his toys out or use other household items to build things.

October 19th, 2008

Nate is still working in Texas. He's been with his new job for 3 weeks & is really enjoying the job & being back in College Station. He comes home on the weekends.

Shadow is still progressing very slowly. I am starting to think she will be in a splint forever!

We are still here in Mississippi working on selling the house. The kids are doing a well as could be expected. Sloan has started to act out some & this was a really rough week for her. The girls are still swimming & Sloan is still doing TaeKwon Do as well. I am still coaching, working out, working on my JLJ project & getting ready for Mistletoe.

We had an Open House this weekend & we hope that the traffic will produce a buyer. It still think it will be a while though. On Friday we did have someone come through for a second look. Even though it didn't produce an offer it was encouraging to be one someone's short list.

This picture is actually from a couple of days ago. One of those rare moments when my kids were all getting along. Sloan is reading to them.

While we were having the Open House the kids & I went to the park & Nate left to return to College Station. The kids & I also went to the park on Friday during a showing; they are going to think we will go to the park all the time these days.

Evie posing on the slide.

Sloan's smile are a little strange these days. She's trying so hard.

Will goes down the slide. He loves the park. Especially the swings.

The kids after they went pecan hunting.

Every Sunday evening we have Pizza Night. We either order or make pizza & put out a blanket to eat picnic style in the living room. Will was so tired he didn't even make it through dinner.

September 27th, 2008 - Update

Oh so much to update everyone about!

Shadow - She is doing just fine, having her splint changed every couple of weeks. She had one other bout with infection, but is seeming to heal, just very slowly.

Sloan & Evie - The girls love their school, have been successful making new friends. Sloan tested for her Senior Brown belt this past week & earned it. She's doing really well. Both the girls are still participating in Makos swim team as well.

I am still coaching for the Makos & work has kept me very busy.

Will is just a laid back kid. He has his 2-year-old moments, but they seem to pass pretty quickly.

Nate accepted a job here in Jackson a little over a month ago as an Account Executive. But, 3 weeks after starting this job he was offered a job back in Texas. This job in Texas is as the General Sales Manager for a 5 station group in Bryan. This job will pay better and is on par with his education & experience. So, after considering it carefully we have decided to move back to Bryan/College Station.

Nate begins this job on September 29th. The kids & I are staying here in Madison until the house sells. We are trying to avoid changing schools every couple of months with the girls. It is going to be very hard with Nate gone so much, but we are certain that this is the best decision for us right now. We also know the condition of the economy will not work in our favor to get our home sold quickly.

I have a lot to keep me busy; getting the kids to & from school, Will, Makos, Junior League of Jackson (we have this little fundraiser coming up - Mistletoe), and keeping the house clean so someone might want to buy it.

This the the weekend Nate went to College Station to start his new job. The kids & I left to go back to Madison Sunday after church.

August 1st - 8th, 2008 - Back to School

We had the girls' hair cut this week to get ready for the new school year. With the change in Nate's job situation we removed them from MRA & have put them in public school. They will be going to Madison Avenue Elementary (MAE).

Evie's hair dresser even took the time to straighten her hair after she cut it. Evie is always asking me to do this, but I never seem to have time so this was very special for her.

That's Sloan!

We had it cut short! I think it suits her very well.

Sloan started school on the 7th. She was very excited & found that she actually already knew quite a few people at her new school.

Evie started school on the 8th. We were very happy to find several of her friends going to MAE one of the boys in our neighborhood is in her class.

July 31st, 2008 - Update...

Shadow is hanging in there. She's had to have all of her apparatus removed as we could not get her through her infection with it all in. She's been put in a full splint that will need to be changed at least every 2 weeks. She still has to stay completely confined & wear a "cone" to keep her from chewing or licking at it.

This is Shadow's kennel.

She can come out to eat & have water. We have to cover her splint with a bag when she goes out to use the bathroom.

Sloan also tested for her Brown belt, which she did achieve. She just keeps moving on up with TaeKwon Do.

July 26th, 2008 - The Ft. Worth Zoo

We took a short trip to the Ft. Worth Zoo as well. The kids loved it, but we didn't have time to see all of it. I was so glad to have purchased a little stroller too, it made it so much easier with Will.

July 25th, 2008 - The Museum

After Nate arrived in Dallas - via the flight he had already booked & paid for when he had his job that coordinated with a business trip he was supposed to take, oh yeah, back on track - we went to the Museum.

Sloan with the dinosaur bones & fossils. They have an area where the kids can dig as well.

There is a great Children's Museum as well. Evie is here playing in one of the experiments.

Evie & Aunt Emily sitting in the hand chair.

Here's Evie, putting on her best show for us.

Will driving the fire engine.

Will is sitting on Daddy's shoulders waiting for one of the shows. We went to the Planetarium & IMAX while we were there.

After the shows we went back to the Children's Museum. The kids loved it over there. Here Will is being a builder.

Sloan is obviously a little more comfortable climbing the wall than Evie.

Evie showing off her skills balancing.

Sloan giving it a try as well.

Emily even got into the Children's Museum. She really is a kid at heart.

After dinner was Mexican food (one of my favorite things about Texas). Will loved his jello.

With Nate relaxing after a long day.
